Barger Academy is a fine arts elementary magnet school in urban Chattanooga. We are a title I public school that offers an arts-infused curriculum for our population of students whom mainly come from low performing areas of Hamilton County, TN. My special education students are included in the regular classrooms, but they also receive direct pullout services in their deficit areas of need (reading, language, social skills, math). My classroom has flexible seating, a sensory space and materials for teaching each direct service group. My concern is meeting my students' needs when they are in their regular classes.Having access to different levels of texts for various subject areas, sensory and flexible seating for those who need it, and access to the technology needed to help my students access the general education curriculum while they are not with me would have a positive effect on their learning.
