I have read several online journals and blogs concerning flexible seating. Online resources such as Research from Edutopia, The Inspired Treehouse, Smith System, and other online resources. These resources have given a ton of reasons why classrooms should have flexible seating. In addition, I have also spoken extensively with a school psychologist about the benefits of flexible seating and more specifically how it would benefit my students in my classroom. Some of the reasons given are: 1. Increases oxygen flow to the brain. 2. Increases blood flow and core strength. 3. Empower students with control over their environment. 4. Increases comfort in the classroom. 5. Allows students to stay calm, focused, and productive. 6. Decreases territorial behavior wishing the classroom.
