Students practice acquiring new English vocabulary and learning basic reading skills in an interactive fun way on Chromebooks we share with the 3rd and 4th grade teams. Unfortunately, last year students did not receive the full benefit from the program because we didn’t have headphones. They struggled to hear the letter sounds and words because they couldn’t drown out the other computers and classroom noise. Headphones will give students the ability to focus on their own learning and help them build their self-confidence. Because our students only have sporadic access to technology, we would also like to create an opportunity for them to increase their time with interactive skill practice. Students currently work in cooperative learning groups daily for both math and reading. We would like to create a learning group with iPads to help students catch up with foundational skills many are lacking. The iPad programs keep kids engaged and excited about learning. These games will allow students to progress at their own level through daily practice.
