My students come from all areas of San Diego County. They are compassionate and inquisitive young scholars, many of whom are faced with additional challenges to accessing learning, including a high percentage of students who are learning English for the first time. We also have a high number of students with learning disabilities, students with autism, and students from low income homes. We are a 100% inclusive school, so all students study full time together regardless of their disabilities, and equity is a top priority of our mission as a community. We are a Project-Based Learning school, so students may spend a day reading literature or building hydroponic vegetable gardens. This semester, our class will be working on a project about the African diaspora using contemporary hip-hop and poetry to inspire our own album of music.
