My first grade students love to work on the one rug I have in my class. Unfortunately only about 5 children can work on the rug at one time. Not only do the students use the rug to do independent or partner work, I teach most of my lessons on the rug. First graders spend little time sitting at their desks, so that is why flexible seating is my focus this year and the two rugs I am requesting are my first step towards that goal. The acquisition of these rugs will allow more of my students to work on a warm, soft surface as oppose to the hard, cold tile many have to sit on now. As you can imagine, the addition of these two rugs will become a vital part to my students' learning.
