You may be wondering: "How will these materials help my students?" My students require visuals, hands-on, activities, and direct modeling for then to soar academically. I have requested a White Board Easel so that my students are able to watch me model strategies on chart paper. Students will have access to use this easel as a resource when completing work independently. It will show them key ideas that we are learning about. I am also in need of whiteboards for students. I want students to feel safe when taking academic risks. This means that students need to be able to erase his/her work and try again. This is also a way for students to directly follow along in class, and for them to make sure they understand the material. I have also asked for Game Pawns and Dice in order to help my ESOL and highly active students stay engaged in math. These materials will help my students to play math games in class, work collaboratively to build on number relationships, and provide engagement for my students. Additionally, I have requested Floor Cushions. I have requested this item because I have a VERY active, Hands-On class. To meet the needs of these students, they need to be able to have cushions that move around the room for group work, instructional time on the floor up close to board, and to spread out in the classroom to work on his/ her independent practice. This will make my students feel safe, comfortable, and ready to learn. The last item I am requesting is glue. My students are FREQUENTLY using interactive notebooks in order to stay engaged. This requires that students use glue sticks to paste interactive notes, graphic organizers, and small tasks into a notebook for better engagement. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
