I chose calculators! "Everyone has a calculator on their phone," is a correct statement, but a scientific calculator is different from most phone apps. Scientific calculators allow all the students to learn together and be amazed at the power of technology (even simple technology like a calculator). I'll be honest, a classroom set of scientific calculators makes life easier for me too. When each student has a different calculator, I spend a great deal of time figuring out each students calculator. I only have my students for 45 minutes a day. If everyone has access to the same tools, class goes much more smoothly.
