Students at my innovative project-based charter school are purposely drawn from a wide range of experiences and socio-economic backgrounds. One of my schools main tenets is to break down the segregation often seen in classrooms by eliminating tracking and ensuring that all students receive a quality college preparatory education. We are 39% free and reduced lunch, yet ninety-nine percent of our students graduate and qualified to attend a four-year state university. Ninety-six percent attend four year colleges after graduation. My ninth grade students have only three teachers during their day, and those three teachers work together to provide an environment that challenges and inspires our students, while also creating a family.
