Risers provide a choir the ability to produce a better sound quality than standing in a straight line. Standing in a straight line causes individual voices to be heard instead of all voices sounding as one. If students are standing behind each other, and the back rows are not lifted up, the audience cannot see the back rows, and those students' voices are lost or muffled. Raising students above the audiences level, and using the tiered risers to organize choir members provides a pleasing look and overall sound quality that cannot be achieved any other way. We recently raised enough money to purchase concert attire, consisting of professional dresses and tuxedos. Risers will complete the aesthetics we are hoping to achieve, both in looks and sound. When students have the proper placement and look, their confidence builds and it improves their abilities.
