I will be able to teach atomic structure and how atomic structure leads to periodic trends with this visual and tactile model set. This kit includes materials for both teacher demonstration and student study of the atomic structure and electron arrangement of the first 36 elements. This resource will help students visualize components of an element, and they will have a clear understand of the periodic table. This hands on activity makes atoms and parts of an atom come alive and allow students to engage more and hopefully increase their desire for science. Children love sensory play, messy science experiments, and hands-on activities. While it seems like children are “just playing” during this time, they are actually learning quite a bit. Hands on play activities are important for children to develop and practice many different skills. It is often hard to properly understand something you have never experienced or seen. With this project students can see and touch atoms and parts of an atom. They can construct their own as well which is really exciting.
