I work in a highly diverse district that fosters community support and encourages collaboration. There are over over 30 languages spoken in the high school alone and over 50 in the district. My students are passionate, dedicated individuals who excel in the arts. As students progress through their art courses, they build relationships that allow them to communicate and collaboratively work together. The Caran d'Ache Luminance colored pencils that I would like to introduce will enable her to complete a series of portraits for her portfolio and be the start of her AP sustained investigation. While the major impact of this donation will directly affect one student, the opportunities it will provide for my other students are countless. Pride grows from within and I believe my students are inspired, bond, and connect through what they see. Art is a fantastic way to bring people together, allowing them to see in others something they may not have seen before. The underlying goal of this project is to further students understanding of color, portraiture, and instill a greater understanding of the time and patience ones needs to achieve the highest results possible.
