My students are high energy, curious, and motivated individuals. They attend a high school in a very tough part of Illinois. The high school is only in its second year of development, we now have freshman and sophomores added on to an already existing elementary school. The program is designed for the students to graduate in three years. The school day goes from 9am-5:10pm. They attend school on the regular, 9 1/2 month calendar year, and then in summer they attend an additional 8 weeks of summer school from 8:30am-3:30pm. It takes a unique individual to be a successful student in our program, because they attend school over 40 hours a week. We only allow 35 students per grade, so we can keep our student to teacher ratio low in order for the students to obtain the most from our staff. Many of my students have experienced things 14-16-year-olds should never have to go through. They are a great group of adolescents and are filled with wonderful dreams and goals.
