I want to improve my students' reading and writing abilities. To accomplish this, I want to get diverse books that help them understand about their culture, where they're coming from and, at the same time, books that makes them dream, imagine and learn, that captures their attention and makes them believe that everything is possible. I'm sure this is going to be a successful year for them, because with these supplies and their resilience they are going to be able to read and comprehend in two languages at the end of the school year. My students come from low income families with a lot of difficulties in their lives, I want to be able to provide them with the education they need to be successful in their daily life, improve their self esteem and recognize their value to our country. I'm asking for books that can keep my students interested. I know Capitan Calzoncillos (Spanish version of Captain Underpants) is a best seller that can improve my students' reading level and at the same time they will be having fun with the captain adventures. I'm also asking for another series in Spanish, I have learned that if you improve reading in their home language they can also be successful in a second language (English in this case). To improve the reading level in English I would like to get books in level F or 3rd grade level. I know it would be easier for them to read this kind of books and also can allow me to improve their reading and comprehension abilities.
