Students in 3rd through 5th grade music will be learning how to read and play music on a 5-line staff by using a recorder. This will help them prepare for their musical journey beyond elementary school. I will implement a "Recorder Karate" curriculum, where students will master each level of recorder music and earn a "belt" every time they master the level. Playing the recorder helps them build their confidence in their musical skills and their academic skills. When students play in front of the teacher and in front of the class, they gain confidence in themselves and will strive to feel successful in the future.
