Not only will sewing skills help and elevate the theatre program, teaching this textile skill in our classes will give our students the opportunity to go out and get jobs in the service industries within THEIR community. Not all of our kids are going to utilize their skills within the theatre world and we acknowledge that; however, they will need the spatial, creative, math, and work ethic skills they need to be successful within their community. Additionally, when so many of our kids have experienced trauma, doing something like sewing or costume design is therapeutic while teaching them a viable life skill.

About my class
