The internet provides students with access to answers beyond what is in their textbooks. The internet allows me the opportunity to give my students a holistic view of integrating subjects while providing a wide range of resources. I like to incorporate as much technology as possible to simulate real world experiences.
One of the greatest benefits for technology in the classroom is career work place readiness. The capability for my students to use computer tablets in the science class to conduct scientific research, read current news articles, and have the ability to apply real world experiences to their learning through computer simulations stresses my desire to have the tablets integrated into our curriculum. I will incorporate websites such as Discovery Education, Phet Simulations, and Gizmo. These applications have a genuine meaning the students can relate to. They have a real life formality. However, I need computers to do the simulations with my students.
I agree that students who use technology in the classroom are more adapted to using it in the workplace. I believe using computer technology in the classroom goes beyond digital literacy promoting critical thinking skills, independent research, and technology proficiency. I believe all students should have equal access to computer technology in the classroom to prepare them for the future.
