I'm a first year special needs teacher at a Title I school. My goal is to give each of my students the tools they need to become successful and independent adults. The Kindle tablets will allow my students to spend time working independently and prepare them to enter the workforce. The headphones will allow them to have personal space and focus on what they're doing. "Live in color" My students love color! The printer will give us the ability to print in color and to differnitate and draw attention to important items and aids with things like understanding graphing. Color allows my students with Autism to concentrate more intently. Puzzles are a great and fun way to practice strategy. Puzzles reinforce many of the characteristics that they will need to exhibit outside of the classroom. Flashcards and the template to create my own will allow me to focus on each child's specific needs. Flash cards can be centered around each child's learning style. We could never have enough storage containers and velcro. I would like for each child to have their own storage box filled with items specific to their advancement. We use velcro for everything from calendar to vocabulary words.
