Having basic office materials, (pens, paper, pencils, notebooks, markers, etc.) will allow students to get creative and allow them to get stay organized in and out of the classroom. These basic supplies like pencils, glue, and scissors opens a door for a wide variety of hands-on projects. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, we no longer have an art program so I try to build a bridge between the arts and academics. It's my goal to expose my students to as many mixed media project as possible and truly let them express and discover themselves within their academics. Having supplies in their classroom creates a space for them to do just that, without worrying about where they would find these materials on their own.
