I am so excited to begin my first year! I cannot wait to build an amazing, safe, supportive, collaborative classroom community! I believe the classroom environment is important to learning. I want my classroom to be a place that feels homey and comfortable where students want to be. Many of my students live in poverty and I believe that creating a calming and homey atmosphere in the classroom will provide a sense of peace and calm that they may not have access to at home. The bean bag will be placed in our reading area, so that our middle school readers have a comfy place to enjoy a good book. The plants will bring a calming element, and the lamps will be used in addition to natural light (instead of the flourescent tubes) in order to create a peaceful atmosphere. The hole punch will help my students get their binders organaized, and I also want to share my love of maps and geography with them! Lastly, I want them to be proud of their own work which will will hang up around the classroom!
