I teach over 100 5th and 6th grade scholars in the 9th ward of New Orleans, an area devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Our school has a mission to help our scholars become successful in high school, college, and the world beyond, and every single day I see my students fighting the odds of poverty and crime to show success in education. Our school and community seek to create a safe place that empowers students to overcome obstacles, and fall in love with learning each day. This is my mission, and this is what inspires me every day!
