Research has shown that young learners are able to broaden their academic and emotional horizons throughout the classroom when teachers have the ability to incorporate flexible seating in their classrooms. With the Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach that is being used in our district. With the beginning of the school year quickly approaching, as teachers, we need to instill positive routines that will help to promote a positive and safe learning environment. One way is an evidence-based approach is by creating a Responsive Classroom. This approach suggests using the comfy seats and chairs throughout the day for academic and non-academic times. These soft seats and comfy chairs will help to make a difference in my students' learning because they will foster excitement to help students engage in their individual experience. It will also establish calm and safe classrooms while helping children with their academic and emotional growth. I would be so grateful for any funding to help make this a successful 2018-2019 school year in preparing my young learners for the academic and emotional challenges.
