The students in our school come from a wide range of backgrounds. We are an inner city school with most of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. We are unique in Maryland because we have the largest population of refugee students in the state, along with many ESOL students. Many of these students have never had an art class before. Ceramics has become very popular among all the students not just those who love to create art. Your financial investment in this ceramics program will change students' lives for the better by increasing the expectations that they have for themselves and that teachers have for them. Teachers are among the most important people in students' lives and the most important part of our public education system. Our teachers' biggest problem is a lack of resources. This ceramics project provides needed resources to produce tangible models of students' excellence. Ceramics are uniquely visual example students potential for all to see.
