These picture books will keep engagement AND learning high by allowing students to see themselves through the character's in the stories, especially in preparation for the NYS ELA exam. Working in a school community, where 100% of student's receive free breakfast/lunch, and a large percentage live in temporary housing, our students come to school with much more than their little minds can handle. Not to mention, the pressure and demands of high stakes testing can be a lot to handle for our young learners. These pictures books will create a safe space for students to learn how to handle different situations life may throw their way.
