Utilizing the tablets will allow students to engage in interactive activities during our literacy and math centers. During these blocks, students work in small, leveled groups that rotate every 15 minutes. Students focus on different skills at each workstation and this would allow us to include a great technology station in our rotations. Having six tablets ensures that each student at the center will get to use the technology. Incorporating technology in the classroom provides students with fun, engaging activities that are specific to their learning style and individual needs. These tablets will give my students access to leveled books, which they can read and listen to, supporting their fluency and comprehension skills as well as increasing their confidence as readers. There are great math and literacy apps that can be used with the Fire HD tablets that focus on important kindergarten skills including letter recognition, sight words, shapes, and counting. The leveled books and educational apps will give my students practice with the foundational skills they need to succeed as well as enrichment activities.
