My students are part of a community that is considered low socioeconomic. I am forced to teach the things that their parents should be teaching at home but because their parents aren't college graduates they cannot provide these to them because they don't know themselves. For example, keeping up with assignment deadlines, this is something they struggle with because their parents struggle with the same thing. The calendar will help with that so that I can model how I would do it. By donating to our project you will not only help them become more well rounded individuals but improve their academic achievement along the way. The carpet will make it more comfortable to sit on when sitting in front of the board for whole group instruction. The floor can be hard to withstand but having a carpet should take their attention away from the hard floor and back to my lesson.
