My students complete a powerful assignment where we explore the importance for self esteem, sell image and self concept. My students use words, images and magazines to build a collage on their SMASH BOOKS that help they to visual their own self concept. My middle school students are at such a pivotal age of self discovery and NEED the time to dig, develop, challenge and reflect on their self concept. Being new to my school district and having to leave behind my past class resources, I feel that having access to a color printer for this project is essential to allow students to not only rely on magazines that might not connect to who they are. I would be so grateful to have access to these supplies to make this a really special part of my curriculum for the students.
