I need a "learning carpet" to lay a good foundation in building classroom experiences that last forever. The basic information contained on this "learning carpet" will be a constant review of basic skills for my students and will help them to retain that knowledge. The "learning carpet" will contain numbers in three languages and the seasons of the year. Flexible seating is another MUST HAVE for today’s classroom because it gives the students a sense of independence and control. Some of my students like to read laying down on the carpet, and others prefer floor cushions or a beanbag. A comfortable reading spot facilitates learning and is just plain fun for the children. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed. This allows for them to solve problems and become more proactive learners as they age but also leads the way to better collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
