The class is learning about the engineering design process and will go through a series of flying machine projects, starting with simple hot air balloons. This project will give them experience creating their own designs and building according to their technical drawings. This set of materials will give my students (~170 of them) enough supplies that if they begin building their first design and realize that there is a problem with it, they will have the chance to go back, revise their design, and build a new prototype. With these materials, we will be able to move beyond simply sketching ideas and let the students experience the joy of turning their ideas into real world devices.

About my class
