The use of computers is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math and reading. Using a laptop allows me to blast their lessons on a projector for the whole class to see as all of our lessons are interactive through computer programs. This allows me to teach and interact with the students at the same time. The problem is that with an antiquated desktop computer, the program loading and internet connection is so slow that students lose focus thereby losing all attention in the lesson and silliness ensues. It is so important to keep focus and attention once you have it. Waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and...is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and they lose interest easily. By having a newer, faster laptop, students will be able to avoid the distraction and focus on increasing their learning! By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether the computer is going to stall or not. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their skills as well as their desire to learn.
