Most of my students don't have books at home and have had limited access if any to libraries. Having books in my classroom with characters that look like my students will encourage my students to read and love themselves. I want to instill a love for learning, reading, and self in my students. My students deserve the opportunity to have a classroom library full of wonderful books depicting characters of color. We are a brand new school without a school library. Giving my students access to a library in their classroom will help their learning immensely.
