Silk painting is rarely offered in public schools due to costs. As a child, I was lucky enough to do this and I remember feeling for the first time that I was a good artist and could produce something beautiful that I was proud of. It will create the confidence in the children that don’t believe that everyone is an artist. First, they research Japanese silk paintings and create a design that models past artists. Typically the designs are organic, loose, floral designs. I am always open for more contemporary designs. Second, they outline their designs onto silk and color with fluid silk paints and use different techniques to get their desired results. Each one is unique and breathtaking!
