Because my students are in a regular classroom all day they need an alternative to their standard learning environment when they come to my class. They need a place where they can move and not get in trouble for fidgeting. The diverse students in my class need enough movement to focus on what the lesson requires. Rather than being required to focus on sitting still, the students are given an outlet for their energy. In my class the students will have the option of lying on a rug, or sitting in collapsable chairs; having stand-up tables will provide yet another option to help create an alternative and comfortable environment where students will feel empowered to engage in self-directed learning.
