My small ELA classes will be completing class novel projects including collaborative discussions. After surveying my students, over 70% requested hard copy books over PDF copies (and have since eagerly asked if our books have arrived)! Since the pandemic, students have been completing nearly ALL their classwork, including reading novels, online. There have been multiple studies showing that reading on a digital platform reduces retention of the material versus reading a physical book. I want to support my students increase their literacy in a format that is most desirable for them as well.
