It is extremely difficult for some students to sit in a traditional desk and chair setting for an extended length of time while learning. As a teacher, I am constantly moving throughout the day, so to expect students to sit still for an hour, half hour, even 10 minutes can prove detrimental to student learning. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. I am looking to start my flexible seating change over by adding wobble chairs to my classroom This allows for students to remain seated while giving them the freedom to rock, wiggle, and wobble in a seat that is designed specifically for that purpose! Help make my classroom a space where all students feel safe and comfortable to learn the way they will find the best success!
