Keeping replacement batteries on hand for the calculators used in class will allow my students to continue to use technology to model our math concepts in a more concrete way. Abstract and sometimes hard-to-understand concepts can be shown in a way which helps students better relate to the material and, in turn, use and apply it to their own lives. A donation of batteries will help free up some of our math department budget to use on other manipulatives, resources, and activities that will help further cement student understanding of challenging, hard to reach, and sometimes abstract concepts. A small thing like AAA batteries will go a long way!
