The power of story telling is a human condition. It allows children to easily understand and process information while internalizing the message. Whether it be a story of conflict resolution, sharing kindness, standing up to a bully or perseverance, experiencing it through a character and discussing it as a community allows students to grow as healthy and successful humans. Stories of struggle and determination provide the building blocks to help my students move forward in the moment. They allow for conversation to continue outside of the classroom and into real life. I have included a "therapy wildcat" because the power of animals is well known as is school spirit. As the Wildcats, my students will be able to experience calm while spending time and caring for this "therapy animal" while also practicing social emotional skills such as impulse control. emotional regulation and the ever so important healthy touch.
