Reading in a foreign language builds student confidence in their language abilities, and is one of the fastest ways for a student to acquire a new language. Students who read in a foreign language acquire vocabulary more efficiently than almost any other means. Reading this book will help my students develop confidence and competence in the German language. After reading a novel together last year, I have seen firsthand how students benefit from having authentic reading experiences in a foreign language classroom. This book will be used in five different class periods this upcoming school year to help my students acquire new vocabulary and review previously learned vocabulary.
