My students love books. Each month we have a new unit theme. In order for students to engage in play, build vocabulary and expand their working memory, it is essential that I build on their prior knowledge to understand new concepts. With these books my students are able to have a better understanding of the concepts that I am teaching. They are able to make real-world connections and apply that knowledge to real world situations. With these books my students will be able to practice conversing with their peers and engage in positive social interactions. Literacy helps students to strengthen oral language skills and build and expand their vocabulary. Once my students are repeatedly exposed to a story, we then create ways to enhance their listening comprehension skills by infusing arts integration. It is imperative that I equip my students with the tools that they need to be successful throughout their academic career. What better way to help me to continue to nurture my students love for books.
