How wonderful is it for students to be able to write about their experiences and turn their triumphs and struggles into personal stories? This summer, I had the opportunity to attend the week long Lucy Calkins Writing Workshop at Columbia University in New York. I came back with a strong knowledge of the program and can't wait to implement it in my classroom. I look forward to teaching my students how to write creatively about topics that truly interest them and foster a lifelong love for writing. I need printer paper to print out the online resources (paper templates and writing samples) and copy paper so my students can have access to as much writing paper as they desire! I also need ink.
