The flexible seating materials that I requested through this DonorChoose will help make our classroom, our home away from home! Imagine being ten-eleven years old, FULL of energy and asked to stay seated in a metal chair for five to six hours a day, however to produce your utmost best work... not an easy task! By sending our classroom these flexible seating options, it allows my students the opportunity to CHOOSE where they feel the most COMFORTABLE to complete their work. The Wobble Chairs, Lounge chairs and table for the library, along with the padded cushions provide more options on where the students can choose to concentrate and be successful. Providing this opportunity, may seem small, however it gives the student ownership of a piece of their learning. They will be choosing their learning spot and will be aware of the expectations: explaining why they feel that flexible learning spot is the best choice for them and knowing when to move if the seat/area becomes a distraction. With the funding of this project, the lap desks offer the students more flexibility on how they complete the task at hand. These materials help my fifth graders get comfy, cozy and ready to apply their growth mindset to the task at hand!
