I learned that most students whom struggle with reading lack the ability to identify letter sounds, and before entering middle school they loose interest in learning how to read. Therefore as educators we must find creative and interactive strategies to use. "Ms. McBride I can't hear ", is what I constantly hear when my 25 students and I gather around an old Dell Desktop computer with poor sound quality from the built in speakers. The computer is used as a resource in the classroom to teach songs and watch video clips that are aligned with strategies I use to enhance reading skills and others. The portable speaker will enhance the sound quality of the built in speaker. It will give my students an opportunity to grasp understandings from the videos, and learn strategies in a song format that will assist them in solving problems and attaining skills.
