With this project, my students will get to read for pleasure, gather resources for class projects, as well as be exposed to different styles of writing. Students build confidence and find interests and passions when they read independently, and reaching more students is my goal in this project. My students are asked to read independently, create, explore, ask questions, present, and reflect on their learning daily. By including books in novel and graphic novel form, students may not only enjoy a book in a new way, but also find a new way to express themselves. Our students are encouraged to work on personal interest projects in a variety of presentation styles. I'm starting by asking for a large variety of texts so that students have choice and can explore their own interests. I am excited to provide students with a variety of texts that will engage my science lovers and open students up to new genres.
