I have a number of students who need to work on basic math skills, such as memorization of the basic operations of integers. I want to give my students the opportunity to learn math with the calculators, Multiplying Fractions Hands-On Student Pack, Fractions, Decimals & Percents Circles, All Facts 0-12 Math Flash Cards, Self-Teaching Math Machines, and Giant Activity Dice. Math manipulatives are not provided to the students at their home and it's important to create strong foundations in math early in the year and as often as possible. I will engage these items in multiple settings, such as group work, finish early space, instruction time, and individual practice. Positive interactions with math will allow my students to feel success in a subject they've previously struggled. My main theme in my classroom is having a growth mindset. No matter how much or how little my students know about math at the beginning of the year, my goal is to help them grow stronger and more confident in their math skills to better prepare them for their future.
