My students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. The school my students attend has grades from first to fifth and is considered one with high poverty. The majority of my students receive free lunch or lunch at a reduced price. Many of their parents work long hours. For some of my students it is often their responsibility when they go home to take care of their younger siblings or even to get them ready in the morning to come to school. But even with all those responsibilities when they come to school, they have a love for learning and especially reading. My students passion for reading is contagious. If they finish their math or science before the other students they pull out a book to read. I believe the students in my class and our school know that it is a safe place for them to learn.
