Our classroom library is a place that our students really enjoy. I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind and they give regular input of what they'd like to read. My students need more books reflective of them and their lives. Coming from years of third-grade teaching, my books are not yet up to par for my fifth-grade readers. With these new books, my students will be able to choose texts about characters that may share similar life stories. With a desire to hook my students into a lifelong love of reading, I feel these books will be the gateway to that experience.
