I have recently been moved to a new classroom within my building. My new classroom is located in a corner of the building and is very small. Next year, I will have 32 students and 32 student desks take up a lot of space in an already small classroom! My new classroom has a large working table, but no stools to go with it. If I could put stools around the table, I can use this table as a small group work space for my students! Classroom stool flexible seating allows students to decide where and how they'll sit to learn! With new flexible seating stools, my students will have the opportunity to move and work around the classroom, not just at their desks. This area would allow my students the flexibility to get up and move around the room. They would have to option to sit at a large table and work with their peers. They would also have the option to sit somewhere other then their desks during the day. My students would use this furniture for daily reading, literature circles, conferences, and group work. I would be able to meet with small groups of students or meet with students one on one in a separate area of the classroom. Having a small group table with flexible seating stools will promote student creativity and collaboration. I know that without stools, I will not be able to utilize this table in the best possible way. Unfortunately, my school district does not reimburse for furniture so any purchases I make would be out of my own pocket. I am hoping to receive funding for this furniture so my students and I can work together comfortably this year!
