For the headphones, it is my sincerest hope that students can take advantage of any and all auditory and visual resources- especially during this unprecedented time where virtual instruction is an absolute necessity. Most of the students are coming into the classroom with English as their second language. Headphones would give them the opportunity to both watch and listen to educational programs that hone in on English phonics. The programming would advance in accordance to their growing skill level throughout the academic year, ultimately enhancing their confidence and dexterity in being able to read and write in English fluently. The purpose of these task cards purchased with gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers is two-fold: when in groups, they promote efficient teamwork and budding social skills amongst students, and when done individually, they test a student's aptitude and ability to problem-solve. These task cards would mainly focus on drills involving mathematics, assessing the students' prowess in fast-paced multiplication and division. The goal would then evolve to using these basic techniques to solve more complex word problems. This goal would operate in tandem with that of the one involving the headphones: if students are able to use their newfound English skills to break down the word problem into its core components, then their math abilities would subsequently follow suit. As an added bonus, these virtual task cards can be used either in groups or individually by each student in work stations; either in the comfort of their home or at school if need be.
