My students will use the variety of nonfiction magazines during independent reading time. Students can read to self or partner read and have discussions with each other sharing information they have learned. My students will use these nonfiction and high interest magazines to practice reading strategies, comprehension and as a way to learn to be a better writer. They will be able to read about current events and how they connect to students' daily lives. We are requesting class subscriptions to National Geographic for Kids, Ask, Zoobooks, Ranger Rick and more. These magazines will expose my students to nonfiction information and a variety of high interest topics. They will gain an additional love of reading because they will be using magazines that will have new and exciting content for them to learn about.
