Do you remember 8th grade? You thought you were the top dog. Thirteen years old. A teenager! But, in reality, 8th graders are still trying to figure out where they fit in, who they are, their place in the world. The book "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton . This book is about a middle school that deals with these themes through the eyes of Ponyboy, who feels like an outsider and is great for theme and plot study. It is a perennial favorite, my "in" with reluctant readers, and our copies are falling apart. Please help me replace them!
