A number of my students cannot afford to come to school prepared, and lack proper school supplies or winter accessories, or come to school hungry. Many face a number of barriers outside of school that make being successful and confident at school even more difficult. There are some local resources that provide free supplies, however, they are often targeted towards elementary school aged students, leaving my students without the necessary items to be organized and efficient in their eight classes. Having access to these items in my resource cabinets at school will allow me to teach organizational skills that can be maintained throughout the school year, allow my students to be prepared for their classes, and will alleviate stress so that they can focus their energy towards the thing that they can control, their education.
